Reboot Windows Server From Another Computer Remotely

Problem

Sometimes, I cannot access the server physically or cannot login to the server using Remote Desktop Access. How can I reboot the server from another computer in the same local area network?

Solution

Please follow these steps to reboot the server from another computer.

  1. Login as Administrator from another computer using Remote Desktop Access.
  2. Change the administrator password to the same as the server you want to reboot.
  3. Open a DOS window and execute Shutdown -m \\##.##.##.## /r. ##.##.##.## as the IP that you want to reboot.
